I am looking for an experienced Underwriter for a FS business in Cheadle. You will be working in a close knit team of 5 Claims underwriters and specialise in Medical Underwriting within Income Protection.

Responsibilities

• To underwrite applications to ensure that business is written without undue risk
• To scan all items and attach any underwriting documentation on the database and to make notes in the communication tab, if appropriate.
• To continually look at current processes relating to underwriting to see if improvements can be made to work in a more efficient way.
• To chase applications where client has not completed their tele-interview and to keep on top of applications where we are waiting for forms to be returned.
• To review all policies with exclusions in time for the review date.
• To provide a high level of service to plan holders, internal staff and IFA's.
• To keep up to date with current legislation relating to medical practices.
• To be fully aware of all products sold, and to develop a thorough knowledge of new products
• To identify any material risks that occur in the underwriting function. These should be entered onto the Risk Database and appropriately monitored and reviewed
• To support the implementation of corporate culture initiatives.
• To be aware and comply with office health and safety procedures
