The main purpose of the role is the responsibility for the ABC modelling process for the business. The purpose of the Costing Accountant position is to fairly and accurately allocate business costs to the business areas and products, in order to produce product unit costs which are used across the business for valuation and pricing purposes and to support the business in understanding the operating cost base.

There will be opportunities to challenge internal processes, liaise with key stake-holders, provide the business with insightful MI and forge strong working relationships with all areas across the business to ensure information provided is a true reflection of operational support.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and Maintain the Royal London SAS CPM ABC Model.
  • Support the development and production of the Royal London ABC model for both actual reporting and budgeting.
  • Gain insight and understanding of the Group's operations and processes to support the production of the ABC models and ensure that the models accurately reflect the operations of the Group.
  • Continually look to initiate development opportunities to develop the data collection, modelling and validation processes.
  • Work with Management Accounting to ensure that ABC submissions are accurate and produced in a timely fashion to meet Group deadlines.
  • Provide support to the Business, FBPs and the management accounts department to ensure that the ABC outputs are timely, business focussed, accurate and value adding.
  • Provide support to the Business in understanding Royal London ABC; including the importance, implications and effects of unit costs.
  • Provide back-up to the Management Service Company Accountant
  • Design and produce on-going reporting via Tableau
  • Assist with internal group projects where necessary.
  • Assist in value adding ad hoc analysis and reporting across the business as required.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

Essential

  • Part-qualified, qualified or Qualified by Experience accountant
  • Financial Accounts or Management Accounts background
  • Ability to challenge and improve processes
  • Commercial background
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders
  • Confident to challenge individuals where appropriate
  • Excel skills are essential
  • Project background
  • Worked within ABC environment
  • Controls experience
  • Knowledge of SAS CPM
  • Systems implementation or change work would be beneficial
