HEAD OF ENGLISH

Required from September 2019.

We seek an enthusiastic, graduate who may have already had experience either running, or helping to run, a Department. They will be able to lead through encouragement and enthusiasm as well as exemplary class-room practice. There is a range of teaching experience within the Department; key to the role is to coordinate and support all the members of the Department. The Head of English is involved in all the admissions procedures - the points of entry are at 11+, 13+ and 16+.

The applicant should have excellent administrative skills and some experience of the moderation of internally or externally assessed work. The Head of Department must be willing to encourage a wide range of students.

The Head of English at Sevenoaks is a key to the life of the School and would be expected to play a significant part in the School's development. We seek applicants with vision and imagination and an ability to foster team spirit. A commitment to excellent pastoral care and enriching co-curricular and outreach activities is expected.
