EDP are looking for an individual to take the lead on the co-development of community activities and initiatives across Exeter and South Devon that are designed to build individuals’ resilience and support connection, healthier lifestyles and community involvement.

Post: Community Development Lead
Based: Exeter and South Devon
Hours: Full time (35 hours per week)
Salary: £27,500 - £29,500 dependent on experience
Contract: Fixed Term Contract - 9 month maternity cover (Immediate start - November 2019).

You’ll look for opportunities to develop further social enterprising activity, by working closely with partners and organisations in the local community.

As part of this role you’ll engage with, recruit, train, and support EDP’s mentors and volunteers, ensuring that individuals have a voice and feel able to influence projects to meet their aspirations and needs. You’ll develop an overall strategy for volunteering and work with partners and local employers to develop volunteering opportunities and work placements across the system.

You’ll also evaluate the outcomes of projects and be able to use tools and evidence to demonstrate the social impact of activities and initiatives.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone with experience of community development and working with volunteers. You’ll have an in depth knowledge of substance misuse and its harmful effects, as well as treatments and interventions – both clinical and non-clinical – and the benefits these bring to individuals. Experience of consulting and co-producing enterprising activities and leading on community development initiatives would also be advantageous.

You’ll be keen to challenge traditional ways of thinking and promote new and innovative new ways of working, making sure that individuals feel heard and represented. The role will involve leading and managing others, so the ideal candidate will have experience of line management and coaching and motivating other to achieve relevant outcomes.

You’ll be a strong communicator and will have good IT skills, particularly of Microsoft Office and case management systems. You will also hold a full driving licence and will have access to a roadworthy vehicle, as the role will involve travel across Devon.
