We are seeking a skilled and experienced PR and Media Officer with a passion for strategic communications to join our team. In particular, you will play an important role in the production, implementation and evaluation of PR and media plans for specific projects and RoSPA's general communications function, working with colleagues across the organisation to help them promote their activities and champion strategic PR internally.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents has been at the heart of safety and health in the UK since 1916. Since our early days improving road safety during the blackouts of the First World War, we have existed for a simple reason - to stop the needless loss and devastation caused by accidents. A registered charity, we are committed to continuing this legacy of change through a whole-life approach to the prevention of accidental deaths and serious injuries at home, at work, on the road, at leisure and in schools and colleges.

RoSPA's strategic PR function is crucial in helping to achieve this - engaging with a large range of stakeholders representing RoSPA's diverse work, and increasing the charity's share of voice within its spheres of operation are both essential in helping us achieve our vision of life, free from serious accidental injury.

You will also play an active role in delivering, monitoring and developing RoSPA's ongoing proactive and reactive digital and traditional media offer, including the day-to-day management of our main social media channels (including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and blogs) and supporting a busy press office function, answering media queries and writing press releases and articles.

This is an exciting time for RoSPA, as we seek to build on the momentum generated by our centenary, and the launch of our national accident prevention strategy last year.

The ideal candidate will have an active interest in PR and communications, partaking in continuing professional development, championing PR as a strategic management function, and keeping abreast of developments in communications theory and practice and assessing how these will impact on your work and the work of RoSPA. Experience of PR and/or media planning and evaluation is preferred.

You should also have a flair for producing engaging material in a variety of styles, from punchy social media content to 2,500-word features for a professional audience - and everything in between. Experience in producing video content is a bonus. Excellent written English, an eye for detail and accuracy and the ability to work in a dynamic environment and to tight deadlines are crucial.

Applicants must have at least two years' relevant professional experience in PR/communications
