Production Manager

Our innovative and growing client based near Ilminster seeks an ambitious Production Manager. The key to this role is to be able to provide leadership by overseeing all functions and employees in the designated Value Stream to ensure KPI's are achieved/exceeded. Participate as member of the site leadership team having responsibility to achieve manufacturing performance KPI's for the site and ensuring Health, Safety and Environmental compliance is met for the Value Stream. Be responsible for developing an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible team through personal leadership attributes. Be supportive of continuous improvement by identifying areas of deficiency and recommending appropriate changes in training, working practice and processes for the department.

The Role

Responsible for day to day Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost Leadership throughout the production processes.

• Provides direction and leadership to a matrix organization of direct and indirect reports ensuring that products are manufactured with the highest level of quality in a safe and timely manner that will meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Mentor and develops team members of entire Production Team.
• Maintain a safe work environment, a high level of safety awareness among associates, and implements 6S principles.
• Conduct a fact-based analysis using Lean techniques to create value and manage a Value Stream that eliminates waste and drives continuous process improvement related to safety, quality, delivery and cost.
• Champion the implementation of Lean methods and philosophies in the Value Stream to drive continuous improvement and productivity gains.
• Collaborate with other trained personnel in the areas of PPI/Lean to assist with implementation of various projects identified.
• Owns and reviews Key Performance Indicators during daily management meetings. Identifies gaps and implements countermeasures.
• Builds strong alliances across all functions and is strategic liaison to Product Management, Sales, Customer Service, Design Engineering, and Finance to meet Customer and Stock Holder commitments.
• Establishes goals, sets priorities and coordinates all related activities within the Value Stream to ensure drive and focus towards meeting or exceeding established common business objectives from the Site Strategic Plan and Budget.
• Monitors, reviews, and improves manufacturing and quality related activities and drives corrective and preventative actions. Focuses team on using standardized work practices.
• Maintains proper staffing levels, scheduling and organizing work assignments within the company policies and procedures.
• Performs all job duties within ISO standards, regulatory or statutory requirements.
