SALARY & BENEFITS: GBP35,000 plus great benefits including a generous holiday entitlement and pension scheme and operates a flexible working policy.
WORKING HOURS: Full Time Monday to Friday

Our client is an amazing and unique attraction based in Wakefield capturing the hearts and minds of those who visit. Over 100,000 visitors join our client each year and in support of their mission to keep the stories of coal mining alive, they now seek a Chief Accountant to join their team reporting to the Director Finance.

As a Chief Accountant you will lead a small team and be responsible for delivering an efficient and effective finance function across the organisation ensuring the maintenance of accurate financial records and timely management accounts, together with supporting the delivery of the Museum's financial strategy.

Duties for the chief Accountant role will vary from day to day and you will cover a range of tasks including ensuring that the delivery of financial records in accordance with GAAP, Charity Law, HMRC and other relevant Regulations, and that the highest standards of governance are met. You will also, support the Director of Finance by Planning and Performance in developing annual budgets and financial plans, recruiting, training and retaining a first class finance team and provide financial and technical expertise to support procurement activity across the organisation as a whole.

THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate for the Chief Accountant role will need to be an Accountant qualified by experience or with qualifications and must have a good understanding of financial governance and regulations applicable, desirably within the charitable organisations. You will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be a self motivated and proactive leader and have the ability to manage conflicting priorities and remain calm and professional under pressure. In addition candidates will need to have good IT skills and be computer literate and will need to live within commutable distance to Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
