Laboratory Technician

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a temporary Laboratory Technician to join our successful team for a 12-month period, in our busy Laboratory, on a full time basis, with earnings starting at £16,100 per annum.  

At Future Health Biobank we are passionate about protecting the future health of children, which is why we concentrate our company in two main areas; stem cell banking and diagnostics.  

We are the largest stem cell bank in the UK, having stored more samples then all other UK banks combined and have been established for over 14 years. We fully believe in the value of these services, as well as their present and future possibilities. We offer three core services for stem cell banking; umbilical cord, dental pulp and adipose tissue.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparation of reagents in the clean rooms;
• Passing through of samples and consumables into the sterile areas;
• Calibration of equipment;
• Putting stock away;
• Putting samples into the LN2 tanks;
• Analysing samples on the blood analysers;
• Processing of donor blood samples;
• Labelling of samples;
• Assisting Scientific Officer’s with scientific duties;

Key Skills:

• Ideally suited to an individual who has a genuine interest in science and lab based activities;
• High attention to detail is essential, as is the ability to adapt in a fast paced environment;
• Being able to work as part of an extremely busy team, as well as using own initiative with regards to problem solving;
• Willingness to learn;
• Adherence to robust aseptic procedures due to a cleanroom environment;
• Adherence to strict guidelines and policies as this is a highly regulated setting;

Terms & Benefits:

• 37.5 hours per week, 
• Starting salary of £16,100 per annum;
• 23 days holiday (excluding bank holidays), rising to 25;
• Contributory Company Pension Scheme;
