We currently have a permanent, full time opportunity for a HE Student Support Officer. In this role you will be responsible for leading all aspects of Student Support at University Centre Peterborough, and line management of the Student Advisor. The role involves responding to learner referrals and requests to Health, Welfare, Finance and Disability requirements, organising student events in relation to Student Experience, providing advice and guidance to all students and overseeing support for students who have academic issues.

In addition the role will also include involvement with planning of events including our graduation held at Peterborough Cathedral working closely with the Marketing and Events Coordinator. Your area of responsibility will vary so flexibility and the ability to prioritise are essential along with attention to detail.

The working hours will usually be 8.30 am to 5.00 pm from Monday to Thursday and 8.30 am to 4.30 pm on Friday. However, the working hours will vary on occasions dependent on the needs of the University Centre. Evening and weekend work may be required due to events such as Open Days and Graduation.

The successful candidate will have a good level of education to a minimum of level 2 in English, Maths and IT, along with a higher education degree and proven experience of Student Support is essential. Knowledge of project management and an understanding of Higher Education as well as good communication and interpersonal skills alongside the ability to work independently in a customer focused environment are a necessity in this role.

This is a target driven supportive role which underpins the retention and achievement of our students. Exceptional communication skills both verbally and written are essential along with excellent presentation and negotiation skills.
