About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, friendly, approachable and enthusiastic care practitioner to join our team providing the delivery of high quality care to children with complex health care needs, learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.

Your duties will include providing personal care, following complex health care plans and maintaining a safe environment whilst on duty. You will be experienced in promoting safeguarding and gaining the 'Voice of the Child' in all aspects of your role. You will also be required to take on key responsibilities within your role and support others with their key responsibilities e.g. training.

Using your high level interpersonal skills, you will support children to enjoy a range of activities and develop their skills, and possess a "can do" approach to all aspects of the role. You will also be willing to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends and sleeping-in overnight duties.

All mandatory and 'on the job' training will be provided and the successful candidate must be confident using the internet for e-learning and other training relevant to role.

About you

With three years' experience in a residential setting, you'll be educated to NVQ level 3 in Health and Children's Social Care or equivalent. Positive and keen to provide an excellent service to vulnerable young people, your commitment to working flexibly, coupled with your ability to work as part of a team or autonomously, will be highly valued.

You will be experienced in key working and administration of medication and will need to undertake the level 2 'Safe Handling of Medicines' course.

You will be a role model to other members of the team, taking a lead role in supporting shift leaders in organising and supporting shifts.
