Salary - £28,050 - £36,644 per annum

Our team, based at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne, creates custom-made assistive technology, including aids for daily living for people in their homes, workplaces, schools and in the healthcare environment. The team’s skills range across electrical, electronic, mechanical, and computer and software systems and we are involved at every stage of the process, from assessment of the client, through design and manufacture, to delivery of the device or solution.

We are seeking a talented and motivated individual with expertise in electrical/electronic/software engineering to join the team. A significant part of your role will be to devise, install and configure assistive technology solutions for service users, and you will work closely with partner services, especially those providing communication aids and wheelchairs to patients. You should be qualified to degree level or equivalent, with excellent problem-solving skills and a flexible approach. You must be a good communicator and be enthusiastic about working with people with complex health problems and/or disabilities, and you must also have a full valid driving licence. Knowledge of the legislation and standards relating to medical devices would be advantageous, but work-based training will be available.
