UI Designer

UI Designer

We're looking for a UI Designer to join our team. We know job titles vary. So whether you're a Digital Product Designer, Visual Designer or use a similar title we want to hear from you. We're looking for designers who get stuck-in and love getting under the skin of the problem.

* An awareness of the latest design tools and processes, while knowing how to get the most out of what we've got
* Raising awareness of design throughout the team and wider business
* Contributing to the rationale and evidence behind design decisions in a way our partners understand, so they can feedback constructively
* Supporting senior designers working with stakeholders at varying levels of design maturity
* Having patience and empathy with those who aren't as knowledgeable about contemporary design practice
* Experience in planning and estimating small to medium sized design tasks
* Some experience working at different stages of the product development process, from conception and discovery through to prototyping, usability testing and delivery
* Experience in validating your ideas and concepts in partnership with UX designers, Researchers and Content Designers
* Some experience of translating ideas or prototypes into production-ready designs

You'll be surrounded by experts from a range of disciplines. They'll bring fresh perspectives to challenging problems. Through a collaborative approach you can work with them to make our customer's lives better.

UI Designers at RSA focus on:

* Using our maturing design system to build better interface experiences for our customers
* Translating partner brand guidelines to work with our insurance platforms, customising the RSA experience to suit the needs of their customers
* Collaborating on design concepts, working closely with both content and experience designers
* Designing and contributing to high quality design patterns that work effectively across screen sizes and device types
* Testing your work regularly across these devices, and in a variety of contexts.
* Refining your work based on research and reviews with the Design team
* Documenting and sharing your work with the wider project team, so they can feedback constructively
* Helping senior designers educate the wider business on the value of design.

We're looking for someone who has contributed to a User Centered Design process before. Someone who's seen the challenges it can present and learnt from it.

We'd also like to see:
* You've contributed to digital product experiences, supported by a portfolio that showcases your design skills.
* The story of your work: not only what you did but, more importantly, why you did it.
* Practical experience of putting the user at the centre of your design decisions.
* Some experience of Agile and Lean approaches to digital product design.

It's a bonus if you're familiar with the world of insurance and comfortable working within Agile teams. We often practice Scrum at RSA Digital. You'd be working closely with the other disciplines that make up our project teams (Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Developers, etc.)
