Part of a major international group, this organisation is setting up a new manufacturing facility on a 'green field site' to produce complex high value components for the automotive industry. As a Manufacturing Engineer your role will be to develop manufacturing concepts that include specification of equipment and make feasibility studies for the selection of all capital plant and machinery for a brand new production facility.
Manufacturing Engineer
Salary: to GBP40000 + benefits
Location: North East (commutable from Sunderland, Newcastle, Durham, Newton Aycliffe, Washington areas )
Main duties and responsibilities:
• Prepare and update CAPEX requirements for new production lines in readiness for new product introduction
• Identify new machinary and automation suppliers and verify capabilities
• Summarise equipment and installation costs for quoting new business
• Lead the CapEx based on purchasing of equipment and facilitate timing and budget
• Lead Machine FMEA for major equipment
• Create process methods and support equipment layout to optimise product flow
• Develop pre-production packaging solutions for WIP and Finished Goods
• Project manage equipment on time delivery & installation
• Support and document equipment commissioning and buy off process
Knowledge and Education
You will already have a proven track record working as an Manufacturing Engineer, Project Planning Engineer or Production Engineer working with a high volume manufacturing facility
o HND/Degree in an Engineering related subject
o Previous experience of establishing new production lines or relocation of facilities including CAPEX justification, machine feasibility studies, factory layout and production optimisation
o Previous experience of implementing high automated production lines incorporating robot automation and PLC control, integrated with complex machinary/ production processes
o Experience in leading the PFMEA process for major production equipment purchases
o Demostrate considerable project management, vender cost / CAPEX justification, budget control
o In-depth understanding of Lean Manufacturing methodologies and how to apply them in practice
o Knowledge of complex product assembly, plastic injection moulding, machining, casting, presswork or similar production processes and related capital machinery
