This is an excellent opportunity to work for a leading and global manufacturer of medical technologies

Leading a team of Engineers working within the Engineering department within the Manufacturing organisation, providing engineering services in support of the manufacture of a wide range of products.

General responsibilities include all aspects of Personnel management, health & safety, maintenance of the technical capability & performance of the group & ensuring appropriate & sufficient resource is available for routine and project needs

Principle Responsibilities

* Assess viability of new processes and projects

* Provide technical expertise, advice and guidance to the engineering group and production team staff

* Take responsibility for Project lead role on specific projects

* Provide technical expertise, advice and assistance to the group

* Maintain an understanding of engineering developments in the manufacturing sector through contact with external businesses, publications and product agents

* Maintain an understanding of supplier/sub-contract capabilities

* Write and update department procedures

* Raise and manage design or process related ECRs and ECO actions

* Ensure adequate resource and expertise is provided for production support

* Ensure adequate resource and is provided for quality incident investigations e.g. QIR, QIS & CAPA's

* Effectively communicate information to Senior Managers to group members

* Conduct salary review and appraisals for group members

* Analyse training needs and ensure training needs are achieved

* Design & introduce new manufacturing processes as required by NPI plans

* Design, planning and commissioning production line layouts/cells in NPI activities

* Leading documenting and progressing actions from PFMEAS

* Leading & documenting process verification & validation exercises in line with Design Control procedures

* Transfer & set up of IFS manufacturing data including routings

* Manage engineering changes.

* Design & implementation of component supply and finished product systems (e.g. Kanban, pulls systems)

* Training and skill transfer to operators & engineers

* Conversion of design data to machine tool instructions & programs (e.g. CNC, pick & place, punch press etc.)

* Design & procurement of production jigs & tools, PFMEA's

* Lead and assist with new staff recruitment

* Lead and participate in project meetings, stage reviews & design reviews
