We currently have the exciting and challenging opportunity for three Principal Electoral Services Officers to join our high-profile service within Wiltshire Council, contributing towards shaping, developing and delivering high quality electoral services.

About the role

As Principal Electoral Services Officer you will assist and deputise for the Head of Electoral Services providing efficient, effective, and innovative electoral services, including all aspects of electoral registration, successful delivery of all elections and referendums, and a lead role in community governance and Boundary Commission reviews.

You will act as Deputy Returning Officer at local by-elections and Neighbourhood Planning referendums and be responsible for the organisation and management of a constituency verification and count for all national elections and referendums.

You will provide professional advice to the Returning Officer, Electoral Registration Officer, and elected members and will work in collaboration with others, both internally and externally, to increase public awareness and participation in the democratic process.

About you

With excellent communication, planning and organisation skills you will have significant vocational experience and knowledge of all aspects of electoral services matters. Educated to degree level or equivalent you will hold the Association of Electoral Administrators (AEA) Certificate in Electoral Administration or demonstrate a commitment to study to gain this qualification.

You must be committed to continuing professional development and would be funded and supported to study for the AEA Certificate in Electoral Administration if you don't already hold the qualification.

Interviews will be held on Wednesday 30th January 2019.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
