Purpose of the job:
Responsible for the editorial strategy of The Lancet Planetary Health, an online-only gold open access specialty journal published by The Lancet. The Editor must be a subject expert who can shape the journal into a forum for publishing the most relevant and practice-changing research in the multidisciplinary field of planetary health.
Main responsibilities include:
- Collaboration with other divisions or departments within Reed Elsevier as appropriate
- Budgeting and monitoring expenditure and income for the journal; liaising with the finance departments in the UK, USA, and other regional offices to ensure timely payment of invoices
- Overall responsibility for the editorial strategy of The Lancet Planetary Health, an online only gold open access journal within the portfolio of Lancet journals
- Overall responsibility for the content and timely production of a set number of Articles a year, linked Comments and Correspondence, and Editorial of The Lancet Planetary Health. Commission Comment content as necessary
- Develop and maintain links with the planetary health community to solicit high-quality research and other material for the journal
- Maintain and liaise with an International Advisory Board for The Lancet Planetary Health
Requirements:
- Substantial post-doc research experience or clinical experience in a relevant field
- Substantial editorial experience, at Editor or other senior level, with a good understanding of all aspects of the editorial process, journal production, and of running an editorial team
- PhD or MD in a directly relevant discipline
