Summary of Role
Raytheon UK is looking for a high performing senior Network and System Administrator to work within the Enterprise Service Management Team. Raytheon along with other similar successful high performing organisations is executing highly collaborative and complex programmes and delivering specialist services. These services require collaborative working and strong leadership to resolve issues by working jointly with the customer across multiple sites and business areas.
Reporting to the Service Operations lead the role will have responsibility for technical delivery of the ASG services. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering a number of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) as part of the on-site service delivery team. This will include applying changes, updates, test and acceptance, integration skills, tooling, processes and techniques to maintain multiple complex services. It is expected that the successful candidate will have extensive system admin experience and a detailed knowledge of this bespoke environment. This is a complex and challenging role that will be highly rewarding, with extensive communication and interfacing requirements.
Main Duties
Key Responsibilities of this role will include:
- To provide the lead technical role for specific networks, resolving service incidents and problems, applying diagnosis, maintenance and configuration control attributes to bring about a resolution.
- First, second and third line responsibility for all network infrastructure and switches across the site.
- Act as a subject matter expert for the specified services across the ISS enterprise.
- Network/System monitoring and performance reporting, where appropriate optimise these services.
- Investigate and resolve problems relating to networking, storage access and software services.
- Maintenance of subsystems, optimisation, and fault rectification.
- Maintenance of system configuration files, configuration ownership.
- Installation of OS and COTS software patches/upgrades.
- Implement disaster recovery policies, optimisation and tuning.
- General maintenance of operational systems and associated technologies.
- Technical problem investigation, rectification, data collection and problem resolution and where appropriate act as a conduit for external sub-contractors.
- Providing technical assistance to project teams.
- Vendor liaison, bug fix, technical reporting, technical risk mitigation.
- Link with 1st , 2nd & 4th line, transition and design teams as required
- Perform On-Call duties as required to maintain service availability levels.
Key Technical Responsibilities are:
- SME with expertise of the bespoke networks and associated environments.
- Expertise on systems and architecture.
- Experience with site operations.
- SME on existing architecture/interfaces/data flows.
- Scheduling/downtime coordination.
- Upcoming upgrades.
- Transition planning and support to ISS KPIs.
- Site security requirements/procedures.
- Strong working relationship with key players/stakeholders.
- Attend site briefings / TEMs.
- Engineering support.
- Supporting design/testing/delivery.
- Security patches/updates/lockdowns.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Familiarity with secure networks and environments and MoD & Government security standards.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate CCNA.
- Familiarity with secure system environments.
- In-depth knowledge of Enterprise architecture, systems and associated support processes.
- Proven and comprehensive track record in supporting networks and systems administration.
- An understanding of IP networking, switches, routers and firewalls.
- Familiarity of all major vendors network hardware and software management tools.
- Broad and in-depth understanding of IT architectures.
- Understanding of software/systems engineering principles.
- Willingness to be part of an On-call rota to provide support upon request outside of normal working hours.
- Flexible with working evenings and weekends upon request outside of the On-call requirements.
- Eligibility to obtain or current holder of MoD DV security clearance
Desirable
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplined teams and of dealing with UK MoD and other Government departments would be an advantage.
- Network administration experience.
- Experience administering Network Attached Storage - NetApp.
- Extensive knowledge of GIS systems and software.
- Experience of working in "clamped" environment.
- Providing technical support to IT projects.
- Technical support to projects.
- Knowledge MOD Practices and Procedures.
- Experience in the updating and maintaining of the HLD, LLD and associated engineering documents.
- Current DV clearance
