Apprentice Animal Control and Licensing Officer

£5.90 to £7.83 per hour, depending on age (this is reflective of NMW)

Monday – Friday, 37 hours, 1 day a week release to attend College, 24 month apprenticeship

This is a rare opportunity for an independent and self motivated individual to join the Environmental Health Service at Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council as an apprentice to the Animal Control and Licensing Officer.

The role incorporates traditional dog warden duties, for example; collection of stray dogs, animal welfare, responsible dog ownership promotion; but also includes animal license inspection and enforcement and the investigation of nuisance complaints, for example; dog barking.

We are looking for someone who is strong minded and self-assured who is comfortable with the enforcement side to this role as well as the animal control duties.

Our apprentice will be expected to be eligible to complete the Level 3 Advanced Apprentice in Animal Care (Dog/Animal Warden) during the 24 month contract; support and experiences will be provided to allow this and the post allows for 1 day a weak release to attend college.

A successful candidate will also have the opportunity to assist the officer in pest control work.

An Apprentice Animal Control and Licensing Officer at Hinckley and Bosworth will play a vital part in protecting the health and safety of the residents of our borough as well as protecting the health and welfare of the dogs (and other animals) within it too.

Closing date: 4 February 2019.

Interview date: TBC (February 2019).
