A vacancy has arisen for a paralegal to work in the Family Team in our Exeter Office. This is a full time, permanent opportunity working 9am-5.15pm Monday to Friday.
The Role:
You will be working as a Paralegal within the Family Team. You will need to have a flexible approach and the ability to work within a team environment. You will be working within a children team which largely handles public law proceedings and also private law proceedings.
Duties include, but are not limited to, drafting documents and applications, preparing letters, helping manage fee earner diaries, instructing and briefing counsel and dealing with client queries by telephone and email. As a lot of the work undertaken within the team is legally aided there will be some administration work required including the use of the online legal aid system for applications and amendments and the costing of legal aid files.
All fee earning work generated would be closely supervised and checked by the relevant fee earner.
You will be expected to be self-supporting, and in that regard you will need a good typing speed and good ICT skills.

The ideal candidate will be qualified to a degree level, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a focus on exceptional client care.
The position would suit someone who is highly organised, accurate, proactive and committed to meeting deadlines while remaining calm under pressure. Excellent all round communication skills, professional telephone manner and attention to detail is essential.
