Job overview:

The role of Strategy Director is to partner with the Chief Strategic Officers and Executive Creative Director in developing the Agency’s Strategy discipline and to be the trusted strategic advisor on projects to the Agency’s clients.

We are looking for a highly influential strategic thinker who makes a material impact to their client’s business and the other strategists they work with. They are natural connectors, with a flair for working in cross-functional teams, and are as comfortable sitting with a creative team talking about ideas as they are sitting with a client talking business. They have a proven track record of structuring the delivery of ideas across channels and will help us make our work more interesting.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Strategy:

  • To be a trusted strategic advisor to clients, with a strong commercial understanding of their businesses and brands
  • To be innovative and invent new ways of looking at a problem
  • To lead strategy on accounts and structure brand strategies to deliver ideas through a range of communications channels
  • To ensure effectiveness runs through the DNA of the account
  • To partner Chief Strategic Officers on pitches
  • To author effectiveness papers including those for the IPA and Cannes

Creative:

  • To navigate and mediate potential tension between the creative and commercial agendas
  • To drive the Agency resource to deliver against the evolving creative environment

Development:

  • To educate others and help to develop the strategy skills of those they work with in the team
  • To bring new ideas to the department in meetings
  • To manage and mentor junior members of the team
  • To be a driving force in collaboration between multiple disciplines within the Agency and both communicate and contribute to the Agency’s strategic direction

Skills & Experience:

  • A graduate with at least 6 years of relevant agency experience developing communication strategies
  • Experience working on FMCG brands
  • Proven ability of leading strategy development  and providing inspiration behind the creative process
  • Proven track record of structuring the delivery of innovative ideas across channels
  • The ability to interpret high level briefs from the clients, and experience of partnering on new business pitches is essential
  • A proven track record in client management is essential
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach and creative insight
