From resolving bat issues in individual homes to delivering all ecological surveys for large-scale complex commercial developments including Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIP), we undertake all aspects of ecological consultancy, to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and statutory requirements.

We are looking for an experienced Principal Ecologist to grow, manage and support the ecological team delivering master planning inputs, ecological appraisals, ornithological surveys and studies, other protected species surveys, mitigation design and construction and post-construction supervision and monitoring within our north of England team (Leeds or Manchester office).

Responsibilities:

* Team Recruitment and Leadership

* Generating and effectively managing new business

* Project managing a wide and varied workload and supervising field staff and survey effort

* Undertaking site surveys

* Liaising with clients to develop lasting relationships

* Ecological Impact Assessment

* Habitats Regulations Assessment

* Ecological Mitigation Design and Implementation

* Staff Mentoring and Management

* Financial planning and Management

* Technical Oversight and sign-off of Project Outputs

Qualifications

* Educated to degree level in a relevant subject

* CIEEM membership (Associate / Full)

Essential Skills:

* At least 5 to 10 years' experience working in ecological consultancy;

* Ability to plan and undertake habitat surveys to a high standard and to identify indicator plant species and habitat types;

* Full knowledge of UK and EU Wildlife Legislation and best practice survey techniques;

* Full driving licence

Desirable skills:

* ECoW experience on major projects;

* Experience of preparing and implementing EPS and other licence applications;

* Experienced bat licensed consultant (Class 1 or preferably 2)
