At Kent, Surrey and Sussex Community Rehabilitation Company (KSS CRC), we deliver a range of rehabilitation services to people who have been sentenced by a court to either custody or community supervision. Unpaid work is intended as both a punishment and means by which someone can make amends to the community for the harm they have caused.
Our approach to Community Payback (CP) is to make it engaging for service users so it improves their work ethic and makes them more receptive to learning new skills that will increase their chances of getting work. People sentenced to unpaid work are half as likely to reoffend as those sentenced to a short prison sentence.
Casual workers play a vital role in supporting KSS CRC to deliver Community Payback. As a Casual CP Supervisor you will be responsible for the supervision of service users undertaking a variety of practical tasks including gardening, painting and decorating and small building works. You will be required to manage the work of up to ten service users following Health and Safety and working instructions.
We require casual staff to cover permanent employees annual leave particularly around weekend hours. Full training will be provided.

You will follow a set work plan and transport service users to the site in a minibus for which you will need a manual driving licence.
You will need to organise equipment for the day and complete associated paperwork on a daily basis.
Knowledge and Experience
As a Casual CP Supervisor will be need to be effective in leading and building a team with the ability to create a good working environment. You must be able to demonstrate confidence in supervising people and organising equipment and materials to complete a good days work.
The ideal candidate will be competent at motivating others, able to encourage service users by exercising clear boundaries and applying a fair and consistent approach. You will be effective in empathising and influencing service user behaviour by leading by example.
You will need to possess motivational skills with the ability to work on your own initiative whilst working within clear guidelines. You must be able to respond calmly to disruptive behaviour and avoid issues by using tact and diplomacy.
You will be proficient at compiling basic reports and using basic IT systems.
KSS CRC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share and uphold this commitment in conjunction with the requirements of the Prevent Duty and the positive promotion of modern British values.
