It is an inspiring time for our client as the Combined Authority delivers a £1.3 billion investment plan set to significantly expand the tram network, bringing even greater connectivity to people, places and business.
Our client is currently recruiting for a Mechanical and Electrical Trainee to join their Infrastructure team. You will carry out all scheduled servicing, repairs, installation and testing of the signaling and stop equipment, substations and associated equipment to ensure safe and reliable systems.
As a Mechanical and Electrical Trainee you will ensure that all servicing, schedules and repairs are carried out in a professional, timely and safe manner. You’ll ensure all reports and service sheets are completed and reported to the relevant person and will support with the overhaul of signaling equipment and of stop and substation equipment, re-ordering parts where necessary.
You will also be required to undertake role specific training, completing and keeping up to date log books, working towards assessment of competence in both disciplines and working towards your license for the Institute of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE).
The successful candidate will have experience of working as part of a team testing and fault finding on electrical and/or mechanical equipment in a maintenance or manufacturing environment. You’ll ideally be educated to GCSE level or equivalent with relevant Electrical and Mechanical qualifications. Experience in a rail maintenance environment and working with safety critical equipment would be advantageous. We are looking for candidates with high levels of attention to detail, with excellent interpersonal skills and experience of working as part of a team in a similar industry is essential.
