We are the Youth Adventure Trust, a pioneering charity that inspires young people to realise their potential using the power of the outdoors.
Through a series of residential camps and day activities, our outdoor based programme helps young people to build resilience, self-esteem and develop social and life skills. Our aim is to make a lasting improvement to the lives of vulnerable young people.
We are now entering an exciting period of growth and have ambitious plans to double the number of young people we work with by 2021. To support our ambitious expansion plans, we are looking for a Volunteer Manager to oversee our team of enthusiastic volunteers.

This role is imperative to ensuring positive outcomes for both our volunteers and the young people we get to affect. You’ll play a genuine, hands-on role and will make sure that the volunteers we put in place are the most enthusiastic, talented and skilled available through your hard-work and dedication.
Your day-to-day activities will be incredibly varied and could include working from your home-office to taking part in outdoor activities with the volunteers and young people.

Your Role
As a Volunteer Manager, you will be overseeing our volunteering programme which supports vulnerable young people through the active placement and management of volunteers.
Volunteers are critical to the success of our outcomes and work tirelessly to ensure that young people get as much as possible from their time with the Youth Adventure Trust.
You will play a key role in the recruitment, support and management of volunteers, ensuring we have access to teams of capable, skilled, empathetic, engaging and committed people.
As part of your role, you will be required to travel across Wiltshire and the surrounding area.
Specifically, you will:
- Act as the key point of contact for our programme and event volunteers
- Take responsibility for recruiting, training, supporting, coaching and managing volunteers
- Ensure we are responsive to volunteer management issues, legal requirements and guidance
- Support Programme Managers
- Work directly with young people to demonstrate good practice to the volunteers
- Help the young people to gain the maximum benefit from the opportunities available
- Complete an array of administration and detailed record keeping tasks
About You
To be considered as a Volunteer Manager, you will need:
- Previous experience of recruiting, supporting and managing volunteers
- Experience of working with vulnerable and challenging young people
- Previous experience of delivering training
- A full, clean driving licence and access to your own vehicle
A satisfactory Enhanced DBS Disclosure will be required for this post.
