Becoming a Finance Technician with Capita/Transport for London

Working within the Client Accounting Team responsible for ensuring that all Transaction Processing and Reconciliations are completed accurately and timely.

Each team member will be assigned various responsibilities from the below list as well as the core responsibilities.

What you will do:

Individually Assigned Responsibilities

Complete daily reconciliations of all card receipts within set time restrictions and ensure any differences are logged and escalated as per set down procedures.

* Complete daily reconciliations of all cash & cheque receipts within set time restrictions and ensure any differences are logged and escalated as per set down procedures.
* Complete daily reconciliations of all Bailiff Receipts within set time restrictions and ensure any differences are logged and escalated as per set down procedures.
* Complete daily reconciliations of all TEC Debt Registrations v Value withdrawn from TEC Deposit Account within set time restrictions and ensure any differences are logged and escalated as per set down procedures.
* Complete daily Bank Reconciliations for all TfL Bank accounts maintained by Capita and ensure Cashbook Transactions are accurately and timely matched against Statement Lines within CMS.
* Reconcile all dishonoured cheques and charge-backs assisting the Finance Operations CSR's where required to ensure they are processed in a timely manner.
* Reconcile all Refund cheques issued ensuring any differences are logged and escalated as per set down procedures.
* Reconcile all Chargebacks issued ensuring any differences are logged and escalated as per set down procedures.
* Reconcile all Direct Debit payments ensuring any differences are logged and escalated as per set down procedures.

Core Responsibilities

* Investigate and action requests for information on financial transactions from TfL PMA's.
* Investigate and action requests for information on financial transactions from Operations, Customer Service & Representation teams.
* Adhere to all processes and procedures as documented.
* Escalate any Out of Line (OOL) or potential OOL problems to the Finance Team Leader.

* Recommend innovative ways to improve processes/procedures.

Your Experience will include; Great attention to detail

* Systematic approach to business and ability to solve problems
* Ability to use spreadsheets to analyse data
* Ability to work both under own initiative and also within a team based environment
* Ability to work under pressure, work to tight deadlines with no detriment to the high quality standards expected
* Requires little direction, highly motivated, demonstrates initiative and is proactive in their approach to the business.
* Self-motivated with a 'can do' approach
* Committed, trust worthy and responsible
* Flexible approach to work and adapts easy to change, ability to learn quickly
* Analytical approach ensuring confident decisions are made in line with finance legislation
* Knowledge of TfL Congestion Charging and and/or Traffic Enforcement business and services, policies, practices and procedures

Desirable Experience

* Previous experience of working within a Finance or Accounting environment
* Understanding of "double entry" accounting
* Holder of or working towards a recognised Finance Qualification
