Waterscapes Programme Officer
Ref: WPO/HQ
Location: HQ, Slimbridge
Salary: GBP24,790 - GBP26,095 per annum
Working pattern: 37.5 hours per week - Monday - Friday
This exciting opportunity has arisen through the development of WWT's 5 year plan and the delivery of its Waterscapes Programme: a landscape-scale approach in enhancing the special wetland landscapes that surround our Wetland Centres. Initially this UK based role will focus on supporting and catalysing efforts in the Severn Estuary and Vale landscape that surrounds WWT Slimbridge, alongside the developing opportunities in the landscapes around other WWT Centres.
You will have a good understanding of wetland ecology and of UK nature conservation policy and practice, along with a proven history of working with farmers, private landowners and statutory partners in delivering positive environmental outcomes for wetlands. You will need to have excellent people skills to engage and influence a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external, along with the ability to motivate, inspire and enthuse others in our projects.
The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) is a conservation charity that protects wetlands for wildlife and people. We conserve, restore and create wetlands. We are pioneers in saving wetland wildlife, both in the UK and around the world. At our 10 UK sites around a million visitors a year engage with wetland nature. We work internationally in key global wetland areas, balancing conservation with sustainable livelihoods and influencing national and international conservation policies.
In return for your hard work and dedication you'll enjoy a wide range of benefits including:
* 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays increasing to 30 days after 5 years' service
* Contributory pension scheme (conditions apply)
* Life assurance
* Free parking
* Cycle to work scheme
* Free entry to all our centres
Closing date: 20th January 2019
Interview date: 31st January 2019
