Our client is a highly successful Engineering company based in Northumberland. They are part of a global group, with an incredible and unprecedented multi-million-pound investment programme planned for their North East facility.

They have an ongoing expansion plan with new machines being continuously installed as part of a modernisation process being implemented to embed the latest modern manufacturing tools, techniques and systems. The site is having the newest and industry leading manufacturing methods being developed. To cope with these improvements and changes the site has grown with a new extension for further capacity and investment. To support their on-going projects, they are now looking for a talented and highly motivated Engineer, to focus on one of their key chemical process areas, to supervise a small team, and to implement and develop process controls, lean manufacturing techniques, 5s projects and overall process improvements.

The Role

  • Identify, review & implement improvements to the process
  • Support New Product Introduction
  • Launch new products into manufacture ensuring smooth transition in production.
  • Review & improve engineering routings & plans.
  • Focused on improving efficiencies & right first time.
  • Creating & developing SOPs and aids to improve manufacture.
  • Provide engineering drawings to aid manufacture using 2D & 3D CAD packages.
  • Assist with the implementation of appropriate manufacturing jigs & fixtures and support with tooling selection.
  • Provide effective communications and technical support to our clients.
  • Run improvement project and track their cost savings.
  • Support production throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Meet pre-production engineering requirements/deadlines.
  • Working with shop floor operators closely.
  • Considering new Technologies.

The Person

  • Must be degree educated in an engineering related discipline, suitable subjects would be mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, material science etc.
  • A background in a process related industry sector i.e. paper or print manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical, food production would be ideal.
  • Any experience of automated flow lines.
  • Working knowledge of SPC.
  • Experience of managing and implementing LEAN techniques.
  • Any supervisory experience is preferred although not essential.
