Purchase Ledger Clerk

Chase and Holland are working with a well-known business in Lincoln who have earned the reputation of being a fantastic place to work. Currently, we are assisting them with the recruitment of a Purchase Ledger Clerk to join their Accounts Payable team.

Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, the Purchase Ledger Clerk will be part of a team responsible for processing a volume of supplier invoices. The team also ensure approvals and processes are within policy guidelines and standards, as well as handling and resolving all related queries. This role would ideally suit someone who has experience working in a high-volume environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Assisting with the processing of supplier invoices ensuring that all invoices are processed effectively and accurately, also accounting for the correct treatment of VAT and CIS deductions.
Ensuring that all purchase invoice transactions are appropriately approved, coded and input onto the accounts payable system

Dealing with any accounts payable issues and invoices as they arrive.

Assisting with the preparation and processing of electronic payments and all necessary approvals
Setting up new suppliers according to the company policy and to forward information to the relevant department for completion and approval.
Working with department managers and the Senior Management Team to ensure that invoices are approved in a timely manner and that any queries or problems are resolved promptly.
Reconciling supplier statements and dealing with any issues that may arise from them.

Who should apply?

My client is looking for someone who has AAT level 2 or equivalent, a good understanding of the Microsoft packages and fantastic communication skills both over the phone and in person. Ideally you will have experience of data entry on an accounting system, dealing with suppliers, and liaising with internal and external departments - however training will be provided in these areas.
