Environmental Sampler Trade Effluent

We currently have an exciting part time opportunity to join our Water Recycling team as a Environmental Sampler (Trade Effluent). This role will be based in Colchester covering the Essex and Suffolk area. You will be required to collect a shared van from the Stanway Depot (near Colchester) returning it each day for the other Sampler to use.
In this role you will be responsible for providing technical and administrative support to our Catchment Quality Scientists in the regulation and control of industrial and other non-domestic discharges into our sewerage network.
Some of the key duties are:
- Managing the trade effluent sampling programme
- Collection of trade effluent samples from third party sites
- Assisting with investigations related to non-domestic discharges and incidents.
- Collecting data on-site as required e.g. meter readings,, pH and temperature readings etc.
This is a varied, demanding and essential role for keeping the Catchment Team working efficiently and effectively in the region.What do you need?
We are looking for someone from a scientific background, ideally with a NVQ III in a scientific or technical field and an interest in the environment
You will need to be an excellent communicator, you will be confident in dealing with a wide range of both internal and external stakeholders. Knowing how to plan and organise your own workload will be an important element to this position, as will being a team player. Working in a regulatory environment with knowledge of trade effluent, sewage treatment process and collection systems would be advantageous but not essential.
If successful in your application, you will benefit from access to a company vehicle, so a full UK driving licence is essential. If you are offered the role, the status of your driving licence may be checked and you must be willing to travel locally and at time further across the Anglian Water region.
