You will work as a key member of the project team developing the forward plan to enable the successful delivery of the project. This will involve working and in glove with colleagues across the project team and our industrial suppliers to define and agree how the project will be structured and delivered. Your output will form the schedule baseline, a key anchor against which you will manage subsequent project performance and any potential changes that occur on the delivery journey. Your work will require you to think ahead, as well as plan, in detail, for the short term within the context of what needs to be delivered overall.

In this crucial role, your duties will encompass the following activities:

• Supervise / direct others to scope and create suitable project plans

• Provide comments and recommendations for planning and scheduling requirements relative to staffing and project control

• Plan, organise and supervise schedule resource loading and levelling and determine staffing levels in support of the project needs

• Develop bid evaluation and schedule criteria

• Review supplier bids related to schedule and material control and develop supporting data for contract negotiations

• Monitor and report critical-path and schedule performance of the total project

• Prepare and analyse comparisons of scope, time and cost data between projects

• Prepare and present planning and scheduling information to management / clients

• Lead the development and review of schedule recovery plans including evaluation of additional resource/cost

Some of the posts will be within our Cost Assurance and Analysis Service (CAAS). The team is responsible for providing specialist accountancy advice to various MOD project teams. These roles carry a high level of responsibility and the opportunity to make a significant personal contribution to UK Defence. Our work is every bit as complex and commercially challenging as any you'll find in the private sector, but it's a good feeling to know that we're doing this for a purpose, not for a profit.

Applicants are advised that MOD is transforming certain parts of its organisation, and these positions, currently part of DE&S, will in April 2019 become part of MOD Head Office as the centre for Cost Management with a pan Defence remit. Candidates will remain as civil servants during and following these changes

Successful candidates will have demonstrable extensive expertise of working in Planning / Scheduling development including performing, monitoring and reviewing planning and scheduling functions to include control and analysis. Knowledge of Primavera P6, Enterprise Microsoft Project, EPM2010 and Earned Value Management (EVM) would be an advantage.

Please note that some of our posts are reserved for UK Nationals only due to security and may be subject to higher level security checks (Developed Vetting)

The salary is between GBP30,000-GBP46,000 per annum depending on experience.

The closing date for applications is 13th January 2019.
