About The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a safety risk specialist to join TRL and our expanding Risk Management team. We are looking for an ambitious, proactive risk specialist with experience in risk management, risk assessment and safety management systems.
TRL is a centre of excellence for future transport and provides organisations with the evidence base to enable future innovation in transport. The risk management team provides innovative risk management solutions and advice to a wide range of customers across the field of transport, including autonomous vehicles, heavy vehicle platoons, integration of electric vehicles and road worker safety.
Key Duties / Responsibilities
This opportunity will suit an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who wants to be central to ensuring the safety of future transport. Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing innovative risk management solutions to address customer concerns or project requirements
- Taking risk management responsibility within large cutting edge research projects
- Developing safety cases, risk assessments and safety management systems to ensure safety during trials and testing
- Applying existing knowledge, methods and theories to complex research situations
- Designing innovative risk management methodologies for project proposals
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Experience in safety risk management including risk assessments, risk evaluation and tolerability of risk criteria
- Excellent report writing skills and communication
- Self-motivation, being able to both lead and work as a member of a team
- Track record in working co-operatively, with a proven ability to manage internal and external stakeholders
Highly desirable:
- IOSH Membership
- Experience of conducting quantitative risk assessments
- Experience of managing risk on large projects
- Proven experience in designing and executing research projects
Qualifications
A Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline.
Communication Requirements:
Eligible candidates must be able to demonstrate fluency in both verbal and written English, as the role demands a high level of communication with clients and the output of detailed written reports.
