bpha is a progressive and forward thinking Housing Association with operations spanning the growth corridor between Oxford and Cambridge.

Formed twenty-eight years ago, bpha has grown to own and/or manage around 19,000 homes with a value in excess of £1bn. Based in Bedford, bpha is a ‘social business’ with a turnover of c.£120m. It employs 400 staff and provides a range of services to approximately 30,000 customers. bpha’s development programme will see it build c.3,000 new homes over the next five years, placing it amongst the top 25 housing associations in terms of new homes built.

bpha’s Board and Committee structure is at the centre of its strong governance processes. The organisation is regulated by the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH). The RSH has awarded the organisation its highest ratings for Governance (G1) and Viability (V1). bpha has a Standard and Poors (S&P) credit rating of A+ and it won the 2017 Housing Association National Award (HANA) for its risk management processes.

The Board comprises of up to eight Non-Executive Directors (including the Chair and a Senior Independent Director) and four Executive Directors.

bpha is now looking to appoint two Non-Executive Board Members. Applicants will have good interpersonal skills, independence of thought and an ability to challenge constructively while making balanced and informed decisions. They must demonstrate a high degree of personal integrity.

We are particularly interested to hear from applicants who live within our area of operation. bpha is an equal opportunities employer and we are keen to attract greater diversity on to our Board.

Board and Committee meetings are held at bpha’s head office in Bedford during normal working hours.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis up to Sunday 27 January 2019. It is anticipated that the appointment process will be concluded by the end of March 2019.
