Do you have a sound understanding of the challenges faced by low-income families in accessing housing and maintaining tenancies? Or do you have a background in Housing Management / Lettings with a desire to make a real difference and improve people’s lives? If so, join us and share your expertise in a highly rewarding environment.

Real Lettings is a social lettings agency that works with local authorities to provide tenancies for vulnerably housed people. Working across London, Bristol, Milton Keynes and Oxfordshire we operate similar to a high street lettings agency but with the aim of trying to ensure that our tenants don’t fall back into a cycle of homelessness. We have helped hundreds of tenants to access quality, affordable, privately rented accommodation.

At an exciting time of growth we are looking for 2 Housing Management & Lettings Officer to join our London team that currently manages over 500 tenancies within the London boroughs. 1 post is available on a permanent basis, the other on a fixed-term contract up to 31 October 2019.

One of our main aims is to have a positive social impact for the people we house. As part of this you will support tenants at key intervals during their tenancy to offer advice on tenancy sustainment, savings, education and training and other opportunities they can get involved in. You will be responsible for your own patch of properties within our portfolio and carry out effective housing management. The role will require you to provide a high-quality customer focused service to our tenants, and all internal and external partners or organisations working with Real Lettings.

To be successful in this role you’ll need to have an understanding of the challenges faced by low-income families and the skills and knowledge required of tenants in order to maintain a tenancy. Experience of housing management/private sector lettings would be a bonus. An understanding of landlord health and safety responsibilities, and the issues involved in monitoring rent payments, housing benefit claims, and dealing effectively with arrears would also be of benefit.

This is a varied and fast-paced role which will see the successful candidate using their initiative and problem solving skills to positively impact the lives of our tenants and empower them to progress.
