St Catherine’s Vision: A world where everyone can face death supported, informed and pain free.

For the last 35 years, St Catherine’s Hospice has offered expert physical and emotional care to terminally ill local people and their families. Last year alone, we cared for around 2,100 people, and this is only possible thanks to the generosity of our amazing fundraisers and supporters. We are incredibly proud of this, but we know there is much more to do. Currently we are only able to reach one in every three people that need us.

We are an organisation with huge ambitions - We believe that no one should face death and loss alone. To achieve this we need to significantly grow our income, develop our premises, attract and retain the best people, and expand our critical services.  We are looking for dynamic individuals to join our volunteer Board of Trustees to help lead the way. You will be using your skills and experience to guide the direction of the charity through exciting times, securing the governance of the organisation, contributing to its strategic future and acting as an ambassador for all aspects of our work.

No experience of hospice care is necessarily required and you do not have to have held a trustee role previously – knowledge you have gained from other sectors or roles may be just as useful, coupled with energy and enthusiasm.  We are particularly interested to hear from people with a background and experience in Investment Fund Management, Retail, Medical and Construction.

You can be sure that you will enjoy a solid induction and learn new skills as a member of our Board.  As well as the satisfaction that you are helping people in your local community when they need it most.

If you would like to know more, we are holding two Open Events as an opportunity to introduce you to our work, meet current Trustees and Hospice managers and to find out more about what is involved. The dates and times are:-

  • Thursday 10 January 2019, 6pm to 8pm
  • Saturday 12 January 2019, 10am to 12pm

Please click apply to email application. Also, if you would like to know more about becoming a Trustee search for “The Twenty Minute Guide to being a Hospice Trustee”.

Closing date for receipt of completed application forms will be Friday 18 January 2019 at 5pm. As an equal opportunities organisation serving our local community, we welcome your interest and sharing an opportunity of showcasing our contribution and value.  We particularly welcome applications from the BAME community or people with disabilities who are currently underrepresented on our Board.

This role is subject to Enhanced with Adult Barred DBS check.
