We are searching for a part time Financial Controller to join a rapidly expanding business in either their Bodmin or Plymouth offices. You will be responsible for providing a pro-active management accounting service to both Directors and Managers, maintaining accurate financial accounts and exercising diligent financial control over the whole business. You will be responsible for the preparation of; budgets, forecasts, management accounts and variance analysis as well as provision of financial analysis and input to support the overall development of the business.
Key responsibilities include;
* Prepare financial forecasts
* Departmental reporting and P&L
* Cost Centre optimisation and reporting
* Provide management accounting service
* Undertake the day-to-day financial management
* Oversee the production of period management accounts and statistics
* Perform Financial Appraisals of project and capital expenditure proposals, to be followed with subsequent monitoring
* Advise Directors on financial position of the company and the financial implications of decisions to be made
* Prepare the annual financial statements in line with current legislation and best practice
* Prepare Audit file and work with Auditors to provide signed accounts
* Ensure that up to date accounting systems are in place to record all income and expenditure
* Maintain sound security protocols, including appropriate separation of duties, internal auditing, spot checks and accountability definitions, to ensure that key risk of loss, error and fraud are well
* controlled
* Manage the effective control of sales/purchasing and receiving procedures
* Supervise the accurate and timely posting of all sales/purchase transactions to ledger
* Ensure that all suppliers are paid correctly and on time and credit controls are in place
* Comply with relevant statutory requirement without incurring penalty
* Ensure all employees are paid correctly and on time
Experience and Skills Required;
* SAGE skills
* Strong analytical skills
* Strong communications skills
* Qualified Accountant; ACA, CIMA or ACCA
* Strong Excel skills (including pivot tables and complex formulae)
* Expertise in management accounting, financial performance reporting and financial control
* Be a self motivated, self starter who will work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
* Having previous experience of dealing with clinical safety would be highly advantageous
* Able to prioritise workload in a dynamic and constantly changing environment
If successful you will have regular contact with customers, suppliers & auditors and occasional contact with the Inland Revenue and VAT Inspectors. It will be your responsibility to assist the Board of Directors and Internal Managers in developing financial strategies and to recommend the most desirable solution. This position is office based and working hours/shifts can be flexible, subject to requirement. This is a part time, permanent position where you can really make a difference within a rapidly growing, well established business.
