Income collection in Westminster is challenging with nearly 12,000 council tenants and over £85m to be collected annually. With the continued impacts of welfare reform and universal credit, the challenge has never been greater. They are looking for a proactive and results focused team player to join the Income Services Team to help manage the income collection targets. The role requires someone who has experience of dealing with tenant enquiries, preferably rent arrears.
This role is office based but also involves visiting residents in their homes. The successful candidate will be used to working under pressure and to tight deadlines to achieve excellent results. You will be required to have excellent knowledge of the changes to welfare benefits and be able to advise tenants on how it will affect them.
The income advisor will be required to effectively manage all accounts which will involve writing letters, attending possession hearings, providing customers with information on the welfare reform changes, contacting customers at risk of reduced income as a result of the changes in the welfare benefit system; serving legal notices, carrying out home visits, making telephone calls, liaising with external agencies and giving evidence in court. A working knowledge of the pre-action protocol will be required.
The closing date is 1st January 2019.
Assessments and interviews will take place on the 10th and 11th January 2019.
