We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our team of gate engineers. Candidates must be hardworking and a team player with the ability to work on their own initiative.

This role involves manual labour installing manual gates, railing, balustrading, and balconies alongside automating new and existing systems.

This job role includes the following:

  • Installation, service & maintenance of automatic gates and barriers.
  • Installing manual gates, railing, balustrading, and balconies.
  • Repairs and upgrades for prestige customers.
  • Spotting sales opportunities.
  • Electrical and mechanical Engineering fault finding.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with staff, clients, sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • Problem solving with test meters and wiring faults.
  • Attending any training courses on new equipment and practices as required.
  • Completing the diary and keep the office informed of progress.
  • Taking appropriate actions on site to ensure non-chargeable return visits are minimised.
  • At times, working with other Gate Engineers to complete installations.
  • Ensuring van and tools are kept in good condition.
  • Will be required to use general power tools competently and safely.
  • Be able to undertake groundwork and finishing.
  • To attend training courses on new equipment and practices as required.

Skills that are beneficial, although not essential are:

  • Ability to use spades, spoons, breakers, chisels and any other associated tools to dig holes.
  • Knowledge of mixing concrete, including ‘rapid’.
  • Ability to use spirit levels, measures and associated tools.
  • Ability to fix brackets, hinges, catches and the like to metal and brickwork using drills, plugs and screws.
  • Welding/Fabrication skills.
  • Experience in electrical installations, electronic systems/circuits and hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of safety issues although ongoing training is provided.
  • Use general power tools competently and safely.
  • Brick laying skills. 
  • An electro / mechanical background with ground works and finishing.
  • Experience in the installation of CAME preferably, FAAC and other automation equipment.
  • An understanding of the legal requirements of the automation industry including carrying out risk assessments, force testing and Cat 2 and 3 safety edges, although ongoing training will be provided.
  • 17th Edition IEE or Part P certification would be advantageous.
  • Experience with driving a van.
  • Use of Gate/Door Force Tester and adjustment of automatic gate systems to CE certify an automatic gate system.

The candidate should be well presented, self-motivated, keen to learn, works well as part of a team and to own initiative. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritise and multi-task effectively, as well as a positive 'can-do, will-do’, attitude is desirable.

  • Must have a full clean driving license.
  • Must provide their own hand tools.
  • 42.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday 8.00am – 5.00pm.
  • 20 days holiday (plus 8 bank holidays).
  • Occasional overtime available.
  • Occasional Saturday work required.
