We are working with a large forward thinking and high performing farming business who are looking to add a Business Unit Manager to a recently acquired new livestock business based around the boarder between West Sussex and Hampshire. This is a unique opportunity for a senior manager or general manager to take on a new challenge and assume operational control for a successful business unit.
The Job:
This new position will be taking on the responsibility and day-to-day running of the newly acquired livestock unit and operationally manage the wider business functions. You will work with business owners to determine business strategy and plans followed by agreed KPI's in order to maintain sustainable growth from the business unit. Alongside this wider strategy piece will be working with the wider team of around 15+ operators and 5 direct reports. This will require great communication skills and relationship building to ensure each buys into the KPI's and works to the highest quality and ethical standards.
Alongside the strategy and man management there will be a responsibility to actively implement new projects and initiatives to ensure the business is as progressive and tidy as possible and staff are trained in new practices enabling them to implement new practices where necessary.
The Candidate:
We are looking for someone who can bring some of the following qualities to the role:
A degree or similar level qualification (preferably agriculture or agri business related), we will also consider qualification through experience.
An excellent level of agri-business knowledge and experience in implementing this across the sector.
Experience with people and business management is necessary.
Numeracy and computer skills will make up a large proportion of this role, therefore skill with these will be paramount.
Great relationship and rapport building skills will be crucial, you will need to be approachable to your team and presentable to customers and suppliers.
