Your new role
This high performing company are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, to be based in Leeds, to join them on a 12 month contract. You will support the design and delivery of models, drawings and associated design verification, including functional and risk analysis activities, of medical devices developed as part of a time critical project. Your problem solving ability will allow you to effectively turn customer requirements into design solutions through the delivery of 3D-CAD modelling working closely with the Design & Production team and Project Managers.

What you'll need to succeed

• Ability to design, perform and verify engineering calculations and simulations that verify detailed designs and minimise physical testing
• Possess a good understanding of steels and polymers
• Understand the limitations of manufacturing processes and inspection techniques
• Take ownership for design commitments, delivering to timescales in line with project plans
• Proactively manage design related engineering changes
• Confident and effective communicator
• Possess a thorough understanding of the product development process, with a grasp of the specific requirements applicable to medical devices being advantageous
• Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma methodology would also be beneficial
