As an Optoelectronic Device Characterisation Engineer, you will be tasked with leading the characterisation and analysis of optoelectronic components for our client’s products aimed at the fibre optic market.
Specifically, you will characterise devices at chip level, chip on submount, packaged devices and optical transceivers. You will characterise devices in terms of performance parameters related to light current characteristics, optical spectrum, far field, linewidth, relative intensity noise, electro-optic frequency response, eye diagram and bit error rate measurements.
Additionally, you will:
- Test the reliability of laser diodes
- Analyse test data and document outcomes to enable feedback to the Technical Team
- Undertake environmental testing of components for temperature, humidity, mechanical, shock and vibration
- Liaise with test engineering colleagues and outside partners for test programmes
To be considered as an Optoelectronic Device Characterisation Engineer, you will need:
- Experience with the correct procedures for handling electrostatic sensitive components
- Programming experience in MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW or similar for automation of instrument control and data acquisition
- A postgraduate qualification in Photonics, Physics, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline with an emphasis in optoelectronics, high speed communications or RF engineering OR a B.Eng. in Electronic Engineering, Photonics or a related discipline, with at least three years’ applicable experience
Technically-minded and dedicated, as an Optoelectronic Device Characterisation Engineer, you’ll need plenty of self-motivation, a team player mentality and initiative to work unsupervised. Strong written and verbal communication skills are also key.
