CNC Operator/Programmer - Sevenoaks/Kent - GBP33,000 + benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Machinist to join one of the leading Defence and Technology Organisations. Based in Southend-On-Sea at a unique MOD site, you will be a critical part of the team supporting the delivery of key trial/test programmes.

Responsibilities

• To operate manual machine tools to manufacture and modify Jigs and fixtures in a test and evaluation environment.
• Plans machining by studying, engineering drawings, materials, specifications, drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
• Maintains specifications by observing milling, lathing, drilling, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.

Requirements

• A suitable engineering apprenticeship eg MoD Apprenticeship or equivalent
• Experience of producing a high standard of mechanical component and have been involved in fitting.
• Competent to operate manual mills, lathes pillar drills grinders and general workshop techniques.
• Ability to follow detailed drawing packs and instructions, control components and record traceability of tasks through the use of workshop procedures.
• Ability to carry out inspection using hand measurement equipment. Knowledge of workshop H+S requirements and track record of safe working practices.
• Mechanical hand tool and fitting skills.
• Good communication skills and is able to help liaise with facility customers.
