Pricing & Forecasting Analyst

We are looking for an experienced analyst to work in our Commercial function based in Birmingham. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of either hedging, demand forecasting or pricing disciplines within the UK energy markets. Calculating accurate demand and revenue forecasts with strong attention to detail is essential to ensure the company's profitability and growth.

Responsibilities:

Ensure energy tariffs are calculated and implemented in a timely manner in line with Ofgem's credit and pre-payment price cap policy.
Calculate indicative future price caps under different scenarios.
Analyse how revenue/financial forecasts will move in line with actual/potential market or industry changes.
On-going analysis and development of hedging strategies that meet the company's strategic goals and ensure sufficient energy is purchased in-line with these.
Development of demand forecasting models and processes that incorporates a methodical approach to understanding accuracy (MAPE) on a daily and half hourly basis.
Assisting in the reporting to senior management of the company's overall revenue, cost and risk position.
Ensure suitable controls are in place to ensure accuracy of processes with high financial risk or exposure.
Preparing and submitting information to governing bodies to ensure regulatory compliance.

Skills and Experience Required:

Knowledge and experience within a similar role in the gas and electricity industry or traded markets.
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to understand the impact of decisions and actions on company performance.
Extensive experience at both modelling and working with complex spreadsheets/databases, supported by strong IT skills (particularly Excel, Access, SQL and Visual Basic for Applications).
Strong academic background in a mathematical/economics based degree is desirable.
