Position: Community Support Manager
Location: Pontypool (Mamhilad Park Estate), Wales
Contract type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 35 per week
Salary: GBP22,132 actual per annum

About the role:
This role is to manage Community Support services across Caerphilly and Blaenau Gwent as part of the Gwent locality team.
The Community Support services across Caerphilly and Blaenau Gwent provide personalised one to one support for people with dementia to continue with daily living activities and to participate in leisure and social activities when they may no longer be able to do so without support. This could include support to continue with hobbies and personal interests; to participate in leisure and social activities; and to carry out daily living activities such as light chores, cooking or shopping.
As the Community Support Manager you will be responsible for the management and administration of the local Community Support service including the dedicated staff and volunteers who support people with dementia in their own homes and in the community.
You will be responsible for the promotion of the service to external partners and stakeholders with a commitment to enabling people affected by dementia to access the service. You will have experience in managing and effectively promoting privately purchased services and contributed to the development of such services.
A large part of your role involves managing a team of experienced and highly skilled Support Workers and Volunteers; this includes recruitment, development and performance management of the dedicated workers operating within the service. You will need to be able to support them in their demanding roles, whilst ensuring we offer the highest standards of service.
About you:
This influential role calls for a good understanding of dementia. You will recruit and support a team of volunteers and support staff who provide a one-to-one service in the community, support or care environment. You must also be an excellent communicator and listener who can lead, develop and inspire others. Excellent organisational skills are essential, and you are likely to have experience of working with statutory and voluntary agencies. Add to that your ability to travel independently and work flexible hours when necessary, this could include evenings and weekends and you will quickly establish yourself as a vital member of our team.
