A Manufacturing Quality Engineer Job opportunity has just become available, within a leading manufacturing business. Located in the Manchester area, this well regarded company is offering a competitive salary, for the right engineering professional.

Purpose of the Manufacturing Quality Engineer role -

  • Drive operational continuous improvement, to enable the business meet with demanding customer targets.
  • Use the relevant quality tools to analyse data and deal with any non-conformances in a professional manner.
  • Apply technical expertise within the development and improvement of products, manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Manufacturing Quality Engineer responsibilities include -
  • Maintain product and production quality assurance and regulatory conformance.
  • Continuously develop and maintain processes and guidelines on site.
  • Help manage the improvement action programmes, resulting from the review procedures.
  • Use the relevant quality tools and techniques (including SPC/pareto/analysis/Ishikawa diagrams/8D) to drive the continuous improvement actions within the production processes.
  • Help manage and assist with the Process FMEA's, to ascertain and reduce risk processes.
  • Work on internal audits to ascertain the capability of production processes and check that they're aligned with quality, cost and delivery requirements.
  • Use Root Cause Analysis and 8D to verify issues and to implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Complete PPAP's, approving the release of parts and processes to the required standards.
  • Liaise with internal shareholders to give guidance on product and process designs.
  • Assist with the management of improvement plans, to drive performance improvement against the required targets.

Manufacturing Quality Engineer desirable skills/experience/attributes -

  • Experience working within a similar position.
  • Excellent organisational skills and able to plan/drive lean manufacturing.
  • Experience auditing to VDA 6.3 and/or ISO 9001
  • Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree/qualification.
  • Ideally Six Sigma Green Belt trained.
  • Ability to Quality tools including PPAP, APQP, FMEA, 8D, 5Y, SPC, R&R
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to communicate well with all teams and suppliers.
  • Natural problem solver and pro-active work ethic.
