In a nutshell

This role is an analyst within Business Performance (part of the Customer and Market Insight function), a newly formed team working to create, collate and compile complex and varied sources of data to inform key business decisions from a customer perspective.

The Business Performance team will be working on some of the most important projects within the business, presenting customer-based insight and recommendations to Senior Leadership and key Steering Groups.

This analyst role will report into an Insight Manager, working collaboratively to understand key requirements (sometimes from a simple initial question) and how data can derive the insight needed. Strong analytical skills are a must with multiple data sources needing to be interrogated and relevant data extracted and manipulated.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled analyst to work within a high-performance team, working on diverse and engaging products with a clear goal to use customer data to create actionable insight.

What I need to do

You will need to understand the context and background to a business question, determine suitable methodologies and tools to extract and analyse data from single or multiple sources to answer that question and support the Insight Manager in using the data to create responses that clearly articulate insight and actions.

How I will succeed

You will be a strong analyst, you will be adept at understanding the problems at the heart of business questions and able to determine and execute the most appropriate analytical methodologies to answer it. You will work collaboratively with the Insight Manager to iterate and explore the data further, helping to communicate your findings clearly to a non-technical, senior leader, audience.

What I need to know

To succeed in this role, you will need:

Strong analytical skills, you will have experience in high paced business environments in turning, often vague, business questions into a piece of analysis that will answer the problems behind the original question.
A good ability at understanding a business question and selecting one or more analytical techniques and data sources to obtain as accurate and robust answer as possible
Strong technical skillset across multiple platforms including Advanced Excel & Microsoft office skills, SQL, R, Python, visualisation software such as Tableau, PowerBI or Qlikview. Digital toolsets such as Adobe Reporting & Analytics or Google Analytics.
Experience of analysing Customer Data, be familiar with common pitfalls in analysing customer data and how to apply rigorous methodologies to get to a robust answer.

Comfortable pulling the interesting story from complex datasets and presenting your findings in an engaging manner
Able to demonstrate the ability to explain your findings to Senior levels within the organisation (up to Senior Manager level), good stakeholder management capability.
