Mechanical Engineering Technician
Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire (Commutable from Cleethorpes, Hull and Scunthorpe)
Salary £33,000 – £37,000 depending on skills

Our client has an opportunity at their Grimsby TENCEL® Fibre continuous operation factory site for a factory.  Reporting to the Mechanical Team Leader, your key task is to safely maintain continuous plant and equipment to maximise plant utilisation and minimise down time. Working with process and engineering teams, using your technical skills you will be able to react to, and identify root cause of breakdowns or mal-operation, propose solutions and purchase materials needed to carry out required work.

You must be able to demonstrate the highest standards with respect to safety, health and environment (SHE) and have the ability to contribute to on-going continuous improvement of maintenance procedures and systems ensuring the reporting of any incidents, safety or environmental, to minimise risk of recurrence. In addition to safely following core procedures/permits/self-assessments, you will also be expected to create and develop them.

Whilst competently working unsupervised, you will be able to safely and effectively, induct, coordinate and supervise a small number of contractors and wherever possible, improve the SHE standards of any contractors working on site.

You will be required to be available for reasonable levels of overtime and call outs in order to maximise plant availability.

The successful candidate will have served a recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship and achieved either HNC or NVQ Level III. You will ideally have experience of competently maintaining rotating equipment such as gearboxes, pumps, fans and other equipment associated with a continuous manufacturing plant.

You will be a self-motivated team player, with a safe and responsible approach to work, able to demonstrate that you can bring the right skills and personal qualities to their Grimsby team and be able to contribute in a flexible, effective and productive way.
