Weddings are happy events, and our client is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Sous Chef to delight couples with wonderful food to make their day perfect. The role is based in brand new kitchens at this a highly successful exclusive hire weddings and events venue in Maidenhead, Berkshire. The venue delivers 150 + events a year with guest numbers between 70 and 170 in the environment of a stunning 15th century listed estate.
Reporting directly to the Head Chef, you'll deliver a wide menu to existing specifications, demonstrating a flair for presentation and consistent delivery. As part of a small but expanding team, you will have significant influence and input into the kitchen operation, menu development, team training, supplier liaison, and be an important part of the wider team of Sales, Operations, Finance and Facilities.
The Sous Chef will lead shifts, taking full control/responsibility for the kitchen where the Head Chef is not present.
Our client, an independently owned company is looking to expand its offering to other venues in the region, with the kitchen team at this venue being pivotal to delivery. This will require some travel and event delivery elsewhere in the future.
Who are we looking for?
* An experienced high level Sous Chef looking to progress their career in a growing organisation
* Experience of the wedding and/or corporate events industries would be ideal
* Considerable experience of high quality, high volume food prep and service
* An infectious passion for food, keeping abreast of trends and sharing your knowledge and experience with the team
* Ability and enthusiasm for mentoring and developing junior team members, keen observation and oversight, leading by example in all respects
* Strong planning, great communication and interpersonal skills, in-depth knowledge and faultless application of food hygiene, health & safety and record keeping are essentials
What can we offer you?
* Starting salary from GBP30,000 in line with experience
* 45 hours a week, variable in line with events, maximum of two weekends (mainly Saturdays) per month during peak season.
* Prep shifts usually 9-5, delivery shifts around 11am to 10pm, variable depending on clients' itineraries. Rota flexibility is provided by the Head Chef wherever possible.
* Overtime plus TIL for Bank Holiday working
* 28 days holiday (inc Bank Holidays)
