Part time Caretaker

We are seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic individual who has the skills and abilities to work within the Premises Team to maintain and improve the school site for the benefit and safety of all staff, pupils and visitors at Furzefield Primary School.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone wishing to be part of a dedicated, friendly and supportive team.

We are looking for someone with a happy, positive disposition, a calm and pleasant manner, and a can do attitude! We have a part time post vacant, currently 27.5 hours per week, (5.5 hours per day).

The current timings each day (Monday to Friday) are 1.00pm until 6.30pm, but subject to change in school holiday periods.

The successful applicant will ideally;

• Be trustworthy, reliable and punctual.

• Have the ability to undertake all the physical aspects of the job.

• Have experience working in a premises/facilities environment, or have caretaking experience in a school or similar environment.

• Have the ability to undertake responsibility of general grounds maintenance.

• Be capable of working with autonomy, but within agreed boundaries.

• Have the ability to maintain positive relationships with children and adults.

• Possess good organisational skills and commit to high standards.

• Have the ability to work as part of a team and be able to respond to guidance, and respond calmly to emergencies.

Furzefield is a vibrant community school in Merstham, Surrey, providing education for pupils aged 3-11 years, with a Good Ofsted grading.

We offer a creative curriculum, including Forest School, pupils who are eager to learn and staff who are friendly, supportive and committed to continuing development. Furzefield Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

As such this post is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check and references. The job is permanent, with an expectation that annual leave will be taken during school holidays.

The appointment will be paid on the Surrey Pay Range, Scale 3 (£16,334 - £17,866 FTE, pro rata’d to £12,477 - £13,648 per annum).
