We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assurance/Controller to join a company that is part of a very well established fresh produce providers.
Based in Maidstone, the role of Quality Assurance/Controller will be permanent (subject to a probation period) and is offering a real opportunity to learn and advance existing skills and knowledge.
Reporting to the QC Supervisor, you will be supporting the current team with all aspects of technical, quality and operational activities.
The main purpose will be to ensure that there is an efficient and effective quality control service provided to all.
Salary is GBP20,700 and the working pattern is: 40 hours per week, but you will be required to work every other weekend. Shift pattern is week 1: 8am to 5pm, Mon-Fri and week 2: 8am to 5pm, but to work Sat/Sun (with 2 days off during the week).
You must have a driving license and access to own transport
Quality Assurance/Controller main responsibilities:
* To ensure all products are inspected and assessed in line with the company's inspection procedures
* Support the commercial team by providing accurate QC information. To develop and maintain a sustainable, balanced working relationship between service providers from a quality and production perspective.
* Assisting with relevant reporting (accurate completion of all intake reports, filing correctly and communicated to all relevant parties in a timely manner.
* Assist the commercial team in making sound decisions on matters relating to product quality, product allocation and any relevant technical requirements
* Create value by managing product quality to meet customer specification
* Manage a workable non compliance procedure.
* Understand and be prepared to support the team with operational matters at the designated site (stock management, samples, benchmarking, availability issues etc.).
* Support and assist the team with customer site visits or supplier visits and or quality management issues as and when required.
* Investigate Returns and advise relevant parties of actions required to minimise recurring issue
* Assist and manage the QC sorter team as and when required.
* Ensure working areas are clean and to an acceptable standard.
Quality Assurance/Controller Person Specification:
* Technical knowledge and experience of fresh produce industry ideally in Soft and Stone Fruit
* Good I.T. Proficiency (Outlook, Excel, Word, Navision).
* Works effectively - tackling immediate demands decisively, whilst retaining a broad awareness of emerging requirements.
* Able to prioritise and structure workload effectively and delivers consistently good results.
* Communicate effectively on all levels, employing tact and discretion and have a genuine desire to provide a good service.
* Willingness to be hands on, work as part of a flexible team providing support or cover for colleagues.
* Demonstrating an understanding of the business, processes and system procedures.
* Some operational experience and an understanding of commercial requirements would be beneficial.
* Be flexible as there will be occasions where other duties will be required to be undertaken
