Our client is a well known Multi-Disciplinary Consultancy who provide a diverse range of services to clients across numerous sectors worldwide, offering creative and effective solutions to their projects.

They are currently looking to recruit a Consultant Ecologist to be based in their Suffolk office; this is an exciting position within an experienced team and they are seeking an ambitious individual who can be a key member of the ecological business in the region.

Main duties will include the following:
-Reporting to and supporting the ecology team leader in London.
-Generation, maintenance and delivery of project work in and around the Midlands
-Project management including client contact, preparation of fee quotes and some financial control, ensuring effective delivery of projects to a high standard
-Assisting other project team members, including subcontractors and seasonal staff
-Supporting and contributing to national team objectives
-Proactively managing the flow of information, correspondence and queries
-Proactively interpreting and taking appropriate actions / decisions
-Operation at a professional level within the ecological sector
-Ensuring departmental processes are adhered to, owning problems and identifying solutions

The key elements of the role include the completion of surveys and planning/implementation of mitigation strategies, including ecological works and translocations. As well as working on large project teams, the successful candidate will manage their own projects, and will be required to apply ecological principles, understand wildlife law, and have the ability to identify pragmatic solutions to ecological constraints.

In addition, the role will require effective communication with a variety of stakeholders as well as some business development and financial awareness (with support from the team leader as required).
Strong competency in Extended Phase 1 Habitat is a minimum requirement for this post, with experience in European Protected Species being a distinct advantage. Applications from those with survey and handling licences for EPS's and a working knowledge of licence applications and mitigation design are encouraged. In addition, experience of Environmental Statements and EcIA chapters would also be beneficial.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
-Relevant degree as a minimum
-Further qualifications and membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g. IEEM) desirable
-Applicants would be expected to possess sound field skills covering a range of taxa, preferably with specialist knowledge of particular species/groups and be a Natural England development or EPS licence holder.
-Good knowledge of relevant UK and European legislation, policy and guidance
-Preferably preparing mitigation method statements, including drafting licences applications, ideally for European Protected Species
-Experience of working on multi-species projects
-Building on experience in chosen field
